Thomas Larsen wins Abu Dhabi title while England’s Dom Barrett takes Qatar Open crown.

Bowling round-up: World Bowling Tour (Abu Dhabi) and Qatar Open.

Denmark’s Thomas Larsen grabbed his first Professional Bowlers Tour title in Abu Dhabi while Britain’s Dom Barrett won the Qatar Open four days later.

Larsen beat Finland’s Mika Koivuniemin 239-280, 247-204 in the final at the Khalifa Bowling Center on Friday 6th December. The 24-year-old entered the competition as top qualifer but had to recover from losing the opening game to secure the win over Koivuniemin, who would have had to win both games to snatch the title.

Meanwhile, English bowler Dom Barrett beat Sweeden’s Mattias Olsson in the final of the Qatar Open at the Qatar Bowling Center on Tuesday.

Barrett defeated Olsson 515-467 in the two-game final, securing a 269-257 win in the first game before dominating the second with a comprehensive 258-198 victory.

The Brit had earlier defeated Abu Dhabi winner Larsen in the competition en route to picking up the $42,000 winner’s cheque.
